Paste a recipe accepts text you provide and proposes rows using limited parsing rules. Common English unit names are recognized. It does not fetch a recipe website, read a photograph, or understand every instruction in a recipe.
Paste one ingredient per line
Choose Paste a recipe and put one ingredient per line. Keep fractions and preparation wording intact. The dialog reminds you that the lines will be added to the current recipe, so remove any existing example ingredients you do not intend to keep.
Choose Review pasted lines. Recognized lines are added to the ingredient table, while uncertain lines appear in the review panel. Compare both with the original text; a recognized quantity does not guarantee a correct ingredient or state.
Review the important parts
Check the numeric amount first, including mixed numbers such as 1½. Then check the unit and ingredient match. Confirm that words such as packed, finely chopped, drained, or divided have not disappeared.
When a line has multiple measurements, choose the intended basis. “1 can (400 g)” may describe one package with a stated mass; it does not describe two ingredients. Keep the unused measurement as context.
Resolve or preserve uncertain lines
For an uncertain line, enter a definite quantity and unit, check the ingredient text, and choose Use this amount. Use Keep unmeasured when the ingredient belongs in the list without a fixed quantity. Use Move to notes for an instruction or text you want to preserve outside the ingredient table.
Ranges and “to taste” need special attention. The tool does not automatically scale both ends of a range or invent a midpoint. Choose a definite amount only when you can make that decision; otherwise preserve the original wording.
Finish the review in the recipe
There is no second step that applies the whole paste. The lines are already in the recipe, and each review choice updates its row or moves the text into notes. Check that every original ingredient is represented and that alternative measurements have not become duplicate amounts.
Set the original and target servings after the original quantities are correct. The scaling arithmetic cannot repair a mistaken interpretation. Use Save recipe to keep the reviewed version in My recipes.
If the paste is difficult to parse
Add the lines manually, keeping the original text nearby. Removing decorative bullets or separating several ingredients onto individual lines can help, but you should not have to rewrite uncertain instructions into false precision.
The goal is a recipe whose quantities and unresolved notes remain inspectable. Save the reviewed result and keep a backup if the recipe matters to you.
