BatchLadle aims to make its calculations usable with a keyboard, readable at different text sizes, and understandable without relying on color alone. The interface should keep the original quantity, current result, and any error clear.
This page describes the accessibility approach and useful alternatives. It does not claim a completed independent audit or certified conformance to an accessibility standard.
Keyboard access
Use the keyboard to move through navigation, fields, buttons, and dialogs. The focused control should be visibly identified. Opening a review or export dialog should place focus in a useful location, and closing it should return focus to the control that opened it.
If a complex editing step is difficult, you can enter ingredient rows individually instead of pasting a full list. Keep the original ingredient text in notes while resolving one quantity at a time.
Labels, errors, and status
Quantity fields need a visible label and a clear unit. An error should explain what needs correction near the relevant field, rather than relying on a border color. A result should not appear current when the input that produced it is invalid.
Saving, importing, and exporting should provide a readable status. A failed save must remain distinguishable from a saved recipe. Review unresolved lines before using the result, even when the rest of the table is complete.
Reading and appearance
Choose the light or dark appearance that is easier for you to read. Text, controls, and focus indicators should remain distinguishable in both. Browser zoom and larger text should preserve access to the content and actions.
On a narrow screen, ingredient information may reflow into stacked rows. The quantity, unit, ingredient name, and notes should stay associated. Fractions and decimal display are available so you can use the representation that is clearest for the task.
Motion and interruptions
The interface should respect the browser or operating system preference for reduced motion. Essential status information must remain available when decorative transitions are reduced.
Calculations and review controls should not require an animation to finish before their meaning can be understood. Recipe and shopping-list output exclude advertising so the printed material stays focused on the task.
Printable copies and local backups
Use the print or PDF preview to inspect a reading copy before saving or printing. CSV provides tabular output, while JSON is intended for a structured backup and later import.
These alternatives serve different tasks and are not interchangeable accessibility guarantees. If one output is difficult to use, keep the original recipe and use another available format while recording the issue.
Report a barrier
Report accessibility problems to support@batchladle.site. Include the page, affected control, browser or assistive technology, steps taken, and the point where progress stops.
You do not need to share a private recipe to demonstrate most interface problems. A short invented example can show a focus, label, or export issue while keeping your own notes private.
