A source cup keeps the publisher’s meaning. It is not silently treated as a US or metric cup.

A cup of pieces is a bulk measure. The selected chocolate-chip reference needs its size and product scope, not just the word “chocolate.”

Choose the appropriate chip record

King Arthur’s selected record is for standard chocolate chips, separate from its miniature-chip row. Women’s Weekly Food provides a 250 mL cup reference without quantified chip dimensions or a specified brand.

These limits remain part of the result. A defined cup volume does not establish that every chip shape packs into that cup in the same way.

Keep other chocolate forms separate

Chopped bars, chunks, miniature chips, and melted chocolate should not automatically inherit this relationship. Keep the form specified by the recipe and use its original weight when available.

A gram quantity can be scaled directly without deciding how the chocolate pieces would fill a measure. Preserve any instruction to melt or reserve part of the amount in the note.

Keep buying details visible

Keep a recipe’s chocolate type or product preference with the row, even when the source reference is more general. A shopping total should still tell you which product the recipe calls for.

If some chips are reserved for topping, retain that instruction instead of creating an extra quantity that counts them twice.
